Built in 1967, this 4 bedroom, 5.5 bath deepwater lakefront home is very deceptive from the street.   The 2 car detached garage blocks your view of most of the house.  From the outside, it looks like a 1500 square foot single story home, but once you get inside you will notice that it also features a large bonus room below the living area perfect for a second gathering area (think playroom for kids/grandkids/adults).  The total advertised square feet is 2874.  I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the views, the condition of the home, and the overall value even though it doesn’t look like much from the street.

You walk in to a nice entry with wide plank wood flooring (the wood flooring is also in the kitchen and dining area).   The kitchen is light and bright with white tile counter tops and light oak cabinets.  Black appliances with wood faces over the trash compactor, dishwasher and refridgerator.  The living room has 2 large sliding glass doors to take advantage of the views, wood beamed T&G ceilings, and a nice mountain home feel to it (see photos below). 2 brick fireplaces, one upstairs in the great room and 1 in the bonus room downstairs.  Each bedroom has it’s own private bathroom.  Nice sized closets.  Large gameroom downstairs (which is really the 4th bedroom).  And it sits on a large 16,575 square foot lot with a boat dock. 

The downstairs is more dated than the upstairs. It’s darker and doesn’t get as much sunlight.  Some drywall on the walls would lighten it up? Also the ceiling downstairs appears to be lower than what most people build nowadays.  Not a huge deal. It’s just something I saw when I previewed the home and maybe they added that section on at a later date? I’m not sure. The deep water is a definate plus and one of the big selling points to this home. You do get a little more wind at this spot because you’re near the point (most of the wind comes off the dam and there’s nothing between the Big Bear Dam and this property) but there’s a windbreak on the deck so you aren’t affected by it as much.  All in all I think it’s a nice home and with the lakefront market typically picking up by July 4th I would expect this property to get some decent activity.  Listed with Trenna Bailey of ReMax of Big Bear for $1,150,000. For more information regarding this property or if I can help you with your search for a lakefront home in Big Bear send me an email or give me a call.
